The brief
What the business needed.
BusinessOS Lite is a retail POS and ERP for Indian businesses — supermarkets, retail shops, restaurants, distributors and small manufacturers. It works with the barcode scanner a shop already owns, with nothing to install: USB, Bluetooth, serial and HID devices, or a phone camera.
The detail that decides whether retail software survives contact with a counter is how little ceremony stands between a scan and a line on the bill. Scanning works anywhere on the screen — no clicking into a field first — and the item lands with its price, MRP and GST already attached. Loose groceries bill as fast as packaged goods, because the system reads the weight-embedded and price-embedded barcodes a label scale prints. Anything that arrives without a barcode gets one: Code 128 stickers with shop name, product, MRP and price, printed from the product list.
Everything behind the counter is fed by the counter. Offers — percentage or rupee, quantity slabs, date windows, by product or category or whole shop — apply the best available one automatically. Loyalty points earn and redeem like cash and print on the invoice. Salesperson codes lock commission in at the moment of sale and produce a daily payout report. Stock, ledgers, dues and profit are already correct by the time anyone opens a report, because nothing needed re-entering.

Offers and loyalty
Percentage or flat discounts, quantity slabs and date windows applied automatically at the best available rate, with loyalty points that earn, redeem and print on the bill.
GST invoicing
Tax invoices with CGST/SGST or IGST, HSN codes and amount in words, plus e-invoice IRN readiness, UPI pay-by-QR and WhatsApp delivery of the bill.

Inventory, customers, suppliers, purchases, both return types, quotations, recurring bills, payments and expenses — twenty-five modules fed by counter activity.
Installable, bilingual

Questions this raises.
Does it work with the barcode scanner I already have?
Yes. USB, Bluetooth, serial and HID scanners work with nothing to install, and a phone camera works if you do not have a scanner. Scanning is active anywhere on the billing screen, so there is no field to click into first.
Can it handle loose items sold by weight?
Yes. It reads the barcodes a label weighing scale prints, whether the weight or the amount is embedded in them, so loose grocery, fruit and vegetables bill at the same speed as packaged goods.
